Hi! Let me introduce myself...
My name is Mariah Schlegel, and I am a dedicated and passionate student attending Kent State University working towards a Bachelor of the Arts in Interior Design. As an accredited program, I plan to take the NCIDQ exam. Currently, I am seeking experiences that will teach me and help further my knowledge and interactions in the professional world. Ideally, I would most enjoy working in hospitality retail, or corporate, however, I am open to all disciplines. What is really important to me in a workplace is the office culture and creative atmosphere. I desire working in a commercial firm that puts emphasis on innovation, excellence, and focusing on the team in order to create the best projects.
My ambitious approach drives me to work hard to create superior work. I can effectively communicate with others, from explaining designs to presenting ideas. Feeling strongly about moving forward, I handle conflict and willingly confront issues with a prepared solution or plan. I am reliable and will not disappoint. I continually seek to improve myself and learn from my previous designs. Design is collaborative. I value opinions of other people on the team and am flexible with changes. I actively listen to others, and am not afraid to ask questions to fully understand what is being said. I accept humility and use it as an instance to grow.
Design Philosophy
Design revolves around the human experience. It is a medium whose solutions enable people to live their lives efficiently and happily. In a frequently advancing world, utilizing cutting-edge design becomes a demand to keep up with current and future needs. Being pragmatic,in addition to being innovative and detailed, creates outcomes that improves lives. By researching, sketching, and diagramming, explored ideas transform into thoughtful solutions. Having an ambitious approach enables one to strive for superior aesthetic, in cohesion with increased functionality.These attributes all combine to deliver an outcome that is unique, and excels
beyond competitors.

-Growing plants/tending to terrariums - succulents/cacti are my favorites!
-Music/Concerts - Lady Gaga is my favorite, but I love EDM, Alternative, and anything with a beachy vibe/anything I can dance to!!
